The San Marcos Air Traffic Control Tower, which opened October 1, 2011, is City-owned and staffed by RVA, Inc. In August 2014, a Terminal Radar Display went live. The radar uses a real-time feed from Austin TRACON and assists our controllers in safely and efficiently guiding aircraft into the airport.

IFR clearance will be obtained through the tower ground control during operating hours. Contact Austin Approach directly when the tower is closed.

TOWER HOURS

The ATCT is staffed 365 days a year from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

MOVEMENT AREA PROCEDURES

In conjunction with our tower opening, a movement area on the ramp was created. Before an aircraft, pedestrian, or vehicle can enter the movement area, they must first obtain permission from the tower via the ground frequency. Any vehicle on the airfield must be equipped with flashing lights and radio.
